Lawrence Wright leaps over a teammate and slams the ball through the hoop during the Operation Hardwood dunk contest Aug. 30 at Camp Arifjan, Kuwait. Wright placed third in the contest behind winner Reginald "Hawk" Hawkins and Chris Elder.
Operation Hardwood "hoops with the troops" is a double-elimination basketball tournament made up of teams of servicemembers from the eight Kuwait military camps. Each team is coached by an NCAA basketball coach, who flew over seas to coach and mentor the teams as well as visit with troops.
