Retired Sgt. Maj. Ray V. Wilburn reads the inscription on the 1940 memorial column at the Combat Center's Heritage Memorial Park on June 24. Wilburn joined them Marine Corps in 1939 and served 31 honorable years. He now plans on celebrating his 90th birthday with friends and family at the Combat Center this week.
