Raeford, N.C., native, Pvt. Justin Smith, a combat medic assigned to Company B, 2nd Battalion, 5th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, walks through a traffic jam while on patrol in Sadr City, May 27. Even with temperatures as high as 110 degrees, Smith and his fellow Soldiers patrol for hours on foot through the neighborhoods where security is their responsibility.
