A soldier from the 524th Combat Service Support Battalion, 45th Sustainment Brigade, 8th Theater Sustainment Command, U.S. Army Pacific, works with a People’s Liberation Army soldier to supply purified drinking water to an evacuation camp they constructed together for displaced personnel as part of the practical field exchange during the 2015 Pacific Resilience Disaster Management Exchange Jan. 18 at Macun Barrack in Haikou, Hainan Province, People’s Republic of China. The DME is designed to maximize hands-on, side-by-side interaction with the PLA on humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operations and enable sharing of lessons learned. The DME utilized the scenario of a fictional third country suffering from the effects of a typhoon, including major flooding in residential areas. (U.S. Army photo by Maj. Lindsey Elder, USARPAC PAO)
