Staff Sgt. Shane Pennington, a military intelligence specialist from Westblocton, Ala., assigned to Company A, 1st Special Troops Battalion, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, leads the "Phoenix" Bn. Color Guard at the 1st STB Welcome Home Ball, a spring formal hosted by the battalion command, May 15, at the Bell County Expose Center in Belton, Texas. Pennington led his detail to post the colors at the event and stood guard during the dinner. The battalion's leaders and their Soldiers came together at the event to enjoy fine dining and to celebrate camaraderie and the completion of the brigade's yearlong deployment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom 07-09.
