Rct. Austin Ziegenherdt, an 18-year-old native of Milford, Ohio, is currently training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, S.C., in hopes of earning the title United States Marine. Ziegenherdt is training with Platoon 3098, Mike Company, 3rd Recruit Training Battalion, and is scheduled to graduate Dec. 19, 2014. “I joined the Marine Corps because I wanted to be like the Marines I saw. The leadership and values I saw in them was what I wanted for myself,” said Ziegenherdt, a 2014 graduate of Milford High School. “I didn’t think I had the drive or motivation to complete college, but I thought if I could do this, what couldn’t I do?”
