Bullard was awarded the Army Commendation Medal and Braxton the Bronze Star, both with the "V" signifying that the medal was awarded for courage in battle in Afghanistan during an attack on Oct. 1, 2012 that killed three NCNG Soldiers and wounded three others. "They are heroes in our midst," said Army Col. Eric Kohl, commander of the NCNG's 130th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade, unit’s higher headquarters.
