North Carolina National Guard Military Police Officer Army Staff Sgt. Andrew Braxton, right, of the 514th Military Police Company is honored at ceremony held at Capt. Christopher Cash Armed Forces Reserve Center in Winterville, N.C., Dec. 7, 2014, for valor in Afghanistan during an attack on Oct. 1, 2012, that killed three NCNG Soldiers and wounded three others. Bullard was awarded the Bronze Star with valor device. Fellow Soldier, Sgt. Benjamin Bullard was awarded an Army Commendation Medal with valor device at the same ceremony. "They are heroes in our midst," said Army Col. Eric Kohl, left, commander of the NCNG's 130th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade.
