Paratroopers gain confidence in M50 protective mask

Sgt. Osvaldo J. Vives and Spc. Jose A. Guilarte, paratroopers assigned to 127th Engineer Battalion, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, prepare capsules containing CS gas for a training event Oct. 28, 2014, at Fort Bragg, N.C. Paratroopers from throughout the battalion cycled through the gas chamber to test their newly-issued M50 joint service general purpose masks, which feature twin conformal filters and provide 24 hours of continuous eye-respiratory protection in nuclear, biological and chemical environments. The M50 replaces the M40 field protective mask. (U.S. Army photo by Staff Sgt. Mary S. Katzenberger)
