A Sailor assigned to the Red Lions of Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 15 salutes an MH-60S Seahawk helicopter assigned to the Tridents of HSC 9 as it takes off from the flight deck of the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70). Carl Vinson and its embarked air wing, Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 17, are deployed supporting maritime security operations, strike operations in Iraq and Syria as directed, and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility.
