Family members assigned to the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS George H.W. Bush (CVN 77) were reunited with family aboard USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70) during a cross-deck between the two ships Oct. 18. Family members walk to an MH-60S helicopter assigned to the Tridents of Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 9 for their return flight to the George H. W. Bush. Carl Vinson and its embarked air wing, Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 17, are deployed supporting Operation Inherent Resolve, maritime security operations, strike operations in Iraq and Syria as directed, and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility.
