Sparky the Fire Dog greets children from the Holloman Elementary School with a smile and open arms at Holloman Air Force Base, N.M., Oct. 7. Sparky the Fire Dog was created for the National Fire Prevention Association in 1951, and has been the organization’s official mascot ever since.
