Sgt. Richard Allen, cavalry scout section sergeant, Troop C, 2nd Squadron, 1st Cavalry Regiment, 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, engages a target 250 meters away with his M4 carbine rifle from a prone unsupported position around “cover” during an advanced rifle marksmanship range, Sept. 4, 2014, at Fort Carson, Colo. Sgt. Jordan Hamilton, cavalry scout section sergeant, Troop C, 2nd Sqdn., 1st Cav. Reg., 1st SBCT, 4th Inf. Div., said they’re shooting behind the plywood to simulate cover from a building or a vehicle and getting used to firing from their dominant and non-dominant hand because that’s what Soldiers face in combat.
