U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Robert Votta, right, 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) law enforcement detachment noncommissioned officer in charge and native of Lakeview, Ore., receives a certificate of commendation from Lt. Col. William Carroll, Combat Logistics Battalion 22, 22nd MEU, commanding officer and native of Mt. Gilead, N.C., for his service as a corporals course instructor aboard the amphibious transport dock ship USS Mesa Verde (LPD 19). The 22nd MEU is deployed with the Bataan Amphibious Ready Group as a theater reserve and crisis response force throughout U.S. Central Command and the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility.
