The Guatemalan Brigada de Infanteria de Marina (BIM) engineers along with their U.S. counterparts watch Jose Antonio Lopez Arevalo, Mayor for Puerto Barrios, and Gov. Raul Estrada cut the ribbon during the ribbon cutting ceremony being held at the Biblioteca Municipal Corporacion 74-78. The ceremony was to commemorate the completion of the humanitarian engineering project, Puerto Barrios, Guatemala, Aug. 21, 2014. The U.S. Marines from 8th Engineer Support Battalion, 2nd Marine Logistics Group, and U.S. Navy Seabees from Construction Battalion Maintenance Unit 202, were helping to remodel buildings in support of Southern Partnership Station 2014, a combined joint exercise focused on subject matter expert exchanges with partner nations and security forces as well as military to military engagements and community relations projects in Central America.
