Retired Master Chief Petty Officer Jim Herdt, the ninth Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy, addresses chief petty officer (CPO) selectees at the Senior Enlisted Academy in Newport, R.I. Herdt discussed the significance of leadership education and stressed the value that the Navy's CPO 365 brings to the fleet. CPO 365 is a yearlong career development program designed to hone the basic tenets of teamwork, time management and tenacity in new CPOs.
