A Tomahawk missile is fired aboard USS Cowpens on approximately March 21, 2003. This was one of the first missiles launched by Navy Lt. Eric I. Palmer at the beginning of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Palmer, the officer-in-charge of Civil Affairs Team 6, Detachment 1, 2nd Battalion, 11th Marine Regiment, Regimental Combat Team 5 has been aiding the Iraqis in Haqlaniyah, Iraq, with reconstruction projects.
