John P. Bobo March 11 at Gwangyang Port, Republic of Korea, during exercise Freedom Banner 2014. Freedom Banner is an annual exercise in support of the Marine Expeditionary Force Exercise, which will project U.S. military power and exercise maritime prepositioning force ship offloading capabilities similar to what would occur during a wartime or disaster relief scenario while giving Marines an opportunity to strengthen ties between the U.S. and the Republic of Korea. After loaded onto the LVSR, containers are tracked by multiple tagging systems and then staged with other equipment that will be used during the exercises, including MEFEX.
