A row of improved Navy lighterage systems sit along the hull of the Military Sealift Command maritime prepositioning force ship USNS 2nd Lt. John P. Bobo March 11 at Gwangyang Port, Republic of Korea, during exercise Freedom Banner 2014. Freedom Banner is an annual exercise in support of the Marine Expeditionary Force Exercise, which will project U.S. military power and exercise maritime prepositioning force ship offloading capabilities similar to what would occur during a wartime or disaster relief scenario while giving Marines an opportunity to strengthen ties between the U.S. and the Republic of Korea. Throughout the offload, the INLS aboard the Bobo were offloaded by Marines and sailors and will be used to hone interoperability between the ROK and U.S. during the exercises, including MEFEX.
