Spc. John Messana, from Londonderry, N.H., and a mechanic of the 1058th Transportation Bn. out of Hingham, Mass., and Sgt. Richard Swan, from Salem Mass., also of the 1058th, maintain one of their vehicles at the fire station here, Jan. 4 2013, during snowstorm Hercules. The soldiers of the 1058th were prepositioned in case evacuations were needed due to flooding on the South Shore along the Cape Cod Canal. The soldiers and airmen of the Massachusetts National Guard continue to train so that they can assist the communities all throughout Massachusetts during major weather events.
