U.S. Army AH-64D Apache helicopters, assigned to the 36th Combat Aviation Brigade, conduct daytime landing qualifications aboard the afloat forward staging base (interim) USS Ponce (AFSB(I) 15) as part of exercise Spartan Kopis. Spartan Kopis is a U.S. 5th Fleet training event that validates the effectiveness of using joint aviation assets in a maritime environment, as well as exercising joint force command and control structure and communications.
