Do our senior enlisted NCO's have what it takes to battle a ROK Ranger obstacle course? Army Sgt. Matt Krohmer gives us a look at the Mangudai competitors.
Suggested tag:
The course was only the first five hours of a grueling fifty eight hour physical and mental endurance test.
Reporter:
The senior enlisted from around Korea land and begin Mangudai. First task is a two kilometer ruck to the ROK ranger obstacle course where ten man squads work together to complete sixteen obstacles. The course is set up on the side of a mountain so getting to the next obstacle means a bit of a hike. Each squad member must complete the task before they move on to the next one. The Mangudai competitors strain every muscle in their body as each obstacle brings a different challenge. Each squad soon realized that teamwork was the only way they were going to finish.
Smsgt:
Sometimes I push them sometimes they push me as well and we work together, the height we had a couple members that were afraid of heights, I’m not really afraid of heights um when it comes to the ladders and stuff like that when doing the obstacle course but so in that sense i felt pretty confident about some of the obstacles.
Reporter:
The competitors are exhausted and drained but they have only just begun Mangudai. Army Sgt. Matt Krohmer somewhere in Korea. Soundbites from:(00:37:00) Sgt. Matt Krohmer, reporting
