    Video by Spc. Marquetta Gibson

    AFN Pacific

Resiliency not only gives our service members the ability to lead their own lives; it guides them to become better leaders in their soldiers lives as well. Spc Marquetta Gibson tells us how one group of soldiers exhibit readiness.

The Area IV Resiliency Terrain walk is hosted twice a year for new Commanders and First Sergeants to attend.

    Reporter:
Subordinates sometimes rely on their leaders to have all the answers they need to solve problems in their lives. As a leader you may not have all the solutions, but the resiliency terrain walk will offer you the assistance you need to guide your soldiers.

    SFC James Lennon:
I’ve had some people say that they couldn’t find different places, so programs like this, even on consolidated post would help other NCOs. It’s a good resource to find out what’s available for the Soldiers. If you’re put in different leadership challenges you want to make sure you have the right resources to help people.

    Reporter:
The terrain walk gave leaders the opportunity to gain knowledge on the Red Cross, Wood Army Medical Clinic, and many other services available in the Area IV community for their soldiers.

    1Sgt Adam Burton:
With the terrain walk today, I think all the services had a lot of good information, a lot of more information that was provided to me. I didn’t learn a lot of new information but there is more information that I’m going to utilize and I’m taking away from the place like USO, ACS that I’m going to take advantage more and encourage my soldiers more to use it as well.

    Reporter:
Every organization that participates in the walk not only offers leaders the information they need to guide their soldiers, they also give the leaders the chance to show their soldiers that they care.

    SFC James Lennon:
It was good information to find out where these resources are, and I want to make sure my NCOs know this so that way they can get out there and help their soldiers. As long as mission allows they’re coming.

    Reporter:
Specialist Marquetta Gibson, Camp Walker, Korea.
