JOINT BASE LEWIS-McCHORD, Wash. -- The I Corps Concert Band conducted their annual Holiday Memories Concert at Carey Theater on Joint Base Lewis-McChord Dec. 18.

Consisting of some of the Army’s most talented musicians, the I Corps Concert Band performed a program that varied in style. With set lists ranging from established concert band repertoire to a collection of American favorites, the Concert Band offered enjoyable listening experience for the whole audience.

“This is the perfect place for people to come during their busy holiday season to relax and enjoy some great holiday music,” said Master Sgt. Peter Plumley, the Senior Team Leader for the 56th Army Band. “I’m a trombone player so naturally I love the Jazz music but there is something for everyone that we played tonight.”

This ensemble performs compositions of well-known composers from around the world that included classical, popular music, and jazz standards that all ages enjoyed.

“People know it’s going to be Christmas type music but we keep it snappy so people from all ages can enjoy the music we play,” added Plumley. “It’s my fifth year playing for the 56th band but it’s great to see the cheer and smiles we bring to the audience every time them come out.”

Some of the songs that were played included "The Nutcracker Suite," "Jingle Bells," "Christmas Time is Here," "Stille Nacht" and "Sleigh Ride." The audience was also welcomed to sing along with the songs they knew during a sing-along portion of the concert.

“I brought my kids out tonight and they really enjoyed the music, they sang along and danced to all the songs they knew,” said Sherry Williams, a spouse from the JBLM community. “The band really did a great job making the concert for both the older and younger generations.”

Plumley spoke highly of all the Soldiers efforts for the event and was very impressed about the hard work and dedication of the Soldiers.

“Everything you have seen and heard tonight was put on by the support of the Soldiers from the band, without their hard work none of this would have been possible,” added Plumley. “The Soldiers pull out all the stops to make sure that every performance is great.”
