Marines receive Army medals in Helmand province

Master Gunnery Sgt. Ron Sorrentino, the communications chief with Regimental Combat Team 7, receives an Army Commendation Medal from Col. Barry Beach, the Georgia Agricultural Development Team III commanding officer, RCT-7, here, July 11, 2013. Sorrentino received the award for ensuring the soldiers had the communications equipment and networks to complete their mission throughout Helmand province. Sorrentino, a native of Chicago, Ill., said he was glad to help the ADT III because they are a part of the regimental team.

Editor’s Note: Georgia Agricultural Development Team III provides mentorship and agricultural training to Afghans in northern Helmand province in order to develop and sustain agricultural, irrigation and livestock capabilities.
