The day featured music from the 101st Army DivisionBand and included Command Sgt. Maj. Thomas R. Capel's farewell ceremony hosted by Gen. Joseph F. Dunford, International Security Assistance Force, U.S. Forces Afghanistan's commanding general, and a ceremony awarding purple hearts to three ISAF warriors, who were injured in the line of duty, supporting Operation Enduring Freedom. Hundreds of soldiers, sailors, Marines, airmen, civilians and contractors lined up on the street and sat in the packed audience to observe the occasion, and stood in line to say their farewells to Capel who will be retiring after 36 years of serving in the United States Army.
