Lance Cpl. Christopher E. Ford, 30, a scout with Delta Company, 4th Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, 2nd LAR Bn., Regimental Combat Team 5, displays a stainless steal cross he keeps for good luck before a patrol through western Al Anbar province, Iraq. Ford, a New York City firefighter from Bronx, N.Y., joined the Marine Corps to continue his service towards his country. The steal cross resembles the display at ground zero, the remains from the World Trade Center after the, September 11, terrorist attacks in New York City.
