Food from the Asian and Pacific Islander culture was one of the many highlights of the Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month Kickoff celebration, May 1. Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month celebrates the culture, traditions and history of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in the United States. The month of May was designated as Asian and Pacific American Heritage Month May 1992 to commemorate the contributions of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in America.
