JB Charleston receives C-17 Globemaster III

Crew chiefs from the 437th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron perform the first recovery and maintenance checks on a new C-17 Globemaster III delivered April 25, 2013, to Joint Base Charleston – Air Base, S.C. The C-17 was delivered by Gen. Paul Selva, Air Mobility Command commander. Joint Base Charleston is scheduled to receive two additional C-17s this year, as Boeing completes work on the Air Force’s final Globemasters. The first C-17 to enter the Air Force’s inventory arrived at Charleston Air Force Base in June 1993. The C-17 is capable of rapid strategic delivery of troops and all types of cargo to main operating bases or directly to forward bases in the deployment area.
