  • With tax season here, service members and their families, both active duty and retired, can take advantage of Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune‚Äôs Tax Center to meet all their tax needs for free. The tax center is located on Lucy Brewer Road near Holcomb Boulevard.
  • Sgt. Brian Slates helps Spc. Grace Castellanos prepare her 2001 tax return Jan. 23 at the Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash., Tax Center. Slates, a former 3rd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division cavalry scout whose ankle tendons were severely torn after a roadside bomb attack during his 2010 deployment to Iraq, now spends his days as a tax preparer at the JBLM Tax Center. Having spent the last 13 months assigned to the center due to his injuries, Slates now mentors fellow soldiers who were selected and trained to work at the center temporarily.
