Katherine V. Franklin looks though the sight of a Squad Automatic Weapon here March 9. Every year residents celebrate Guam's discovery in 1521 with cultural activities ranging from coconut husking and tuba drinking, to local artisan exhibits and cultural and modern dance performances. This year Marines displayed their equipment during Discovery Day festivities. Guahan Shield will facilitate community relations opportunities, multiservice engagement, and provide potential response to theater crises and contingency operations in the Asia-Pacific region.
