The 1st Marine Division Band performs for the retirement ceremony of Maj. Gen. Melvin G. Spiese, the deputy commanding general of I Marine Expeditionary Force, at Camp Pendleton, Calif., March 1. Spiese, from Chicago, completed 36 years of honorable service and was retired by the Honorable Robert O. Work, Under Secretary of the Navy.
