Lt. Col. Brian O'Keefe, New York Army National Guard, representing the New York National Guard for the first time in competition, during the Sprint portion of the 2013 National Guard Eastern Regional Biathlon held at the Ethan Allen Training Site, Jericho Vt., Feb. 9, 2013. The New York National Guard has a long history of creating Olympic Biathletes including Maj. (Ret.) Curtis Schreiner, a three time Olympian. According to the National Guards Biathlon headquarters, located at the Ethan Allen Training Site in Jericho, Vt., members of the National Guard All-Guard Biathlon Team were represented on the 1988, 1992, 1994, 1998, 2002, 2006, and 2010 U.S. Winter Olympic Biathlon Team and is the only Department of Defense (DOD) organization that consistently sends soldiers to the Olympics.
