Virginia Beach, VIRGINIA (April 25, 2024) – Capt. Louis Catalina, executive officer of the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS George H.W. Bush (CVN 77), discusses his Sailor’s participation in a community relations event at the YMCA of South Hampton Roads – Camp Red Feather, with Dr. Joe Rampersad, executive director, YMCA (middle), and Adam Kharl, chief operating officer for YMCA. In honor of the ship’s namesake, George H.W. Bush’s crew continues his initiative of service to the community through their very own ‘Thousand Points of Light’ community service program. Sailors from Bush worked with 41 organizations across 77 locations in the Hampton Roads area during their ship-wide day of service. Bush Sailors participated in general grounds cleanup and trail restoration for the YMCA grounds that will host over 7500 children this summer.
