U.S. Marines with Battalion Landing Team 1/1, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, observe target positions during an emplacement and displacement exercise at Combined Arms Training Center Camp Fuji, Japan, April 1, 2024. Emplacement and displacement exercises were conducted to train Marines in effectively establishing and relocating machine gun positions to simulate realistic combat scenarios. The 31st MEU, the Marine Corps’ only continuously forward-deployed MEU, provides a flexible and lethal force ready to perform a wide range of military operations as the premiere crisis response force in the Indo-Pacific region.
