U.S. Soldiers with the Washington National Guard receive coaching from their sponsors at a land navigation course during the state Best Warrior Competition at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash, March 2, 2024. In addition to land navigation, the competition consisted of an Army Combat Fitness Test, board panel, written essay, qualification range, stress shoot, and tactical ruck march. The winning soldier and non-commissioned officer, Sgt. Isaac Duncan with 898th Brigade Engineer Battalion, 81st Stryker Brigade Combat Team and Spc. Zachariah Johnson with 1st Battalion, 161st Infantry Regiment, 81st SBCT will go on to represent Washington in the Region VI Army National Guard Best Warrior Competition this Spring.
