U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Ryan Jamal-Panuelo, a scout sniper with the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (Special Operations Capable) (MEU(SOC)), looks through the scope of a Barrett Multi Role Adapted Design MK-22 while conducting close quarters battle training during a bilateral exercise at Massafra, Italy, Feb. 24, 2024. The 26th MEU(SOC), embarked aboard USS Mesa Verde (LPD 19) conducted Marine Air-Ground Task Force interoperability training with Italian San Marco Brigade Marines and maritime forces to maintain readiness in core mission essential tasks. The Bataan Amphibious Ready Group, with embarked 26TH MEU(SOC) is on a scheduled deployment in the U.S. Naval Forces Europe area of operations, employed by U.S. 6th Fleet to defend U.S., Allied, and partner interests.
