Debris from Hurricane Sandy is processed at the Jacob Riis Park where the Army Corps of Engineers works to clean and sort it into piles for recycling. Sand containing debris is cleaned by sand sifting machines and piled into pyramids before being returned to the beaches. FEMA provides funding for debris removal through the Public Assistance program. K.C.Wilsey/FEMA
