Students salute as they thank Thai and U.S. service members after a pillar-raising ceremony Jan. 22 at Ban Kao Rai Sriracha School, Wat Bot District, Phitsanulok province, Kingdom of Thailand. The construction is part of several ongoing engineering civic assistance projects leading up to the commencement of Exercise Cobra Gold 2013. Cobra Gold, in its 32nd iteration, is a multinational exercise that promotes regional prosperity, security and cooperation among partner militaries.

Evening soccer matches build cohesion and have become routine at the school where a new building is being constructed. Similar structures are being built at four other schools as part of ongoing engineering civic assistance projects part of Exercise Cobra Gold 2013. The Thai soldiers are with the 302nd Engineer Battalion, Royal Thai Army. The U.S. Marines are with 9th Engineer Support Battalion, 3rd Marine Logistics Group, III Marine Expeditionary Force.
