More than 30 members of the New York National Guard walked door-to-door in New York to assist the survivors of Hurricane Sandy. National Guardsmen Spc. Jones of the HSC642-ASB unit, and Spc. Pimiental, Bravo Company 642 AB, took part in Operation "Task Force Sandy" by walking along Pioneer Street in the Red Hook area of Brooklyn. They told us there were 30 members of their unit working in the area doing “wellness checks” to see if citizens had electricity and heat. If the resident had electricity but no heat, they would provide a portable heater for the resident. (Walt Jennings/FEMA)
