Staff Sgt. Paul McQuown, an Orlando, Fla. native, a flight medic with Company C, 2nd Battalion, 3rd Aviation Regiment, teaches a cold-load medical evacuation class to Soldiers of the 1st Sustainment Brigade. There were two classes with about 30 Soldiers each and they were taught the proper way to load and unload patients from an aircraft using a litter. "The class gives people who are not used to being around aircraft a better understanding of safety around the aircraft because that's the most important thing," said McQuown, who has seen people injured, sometimes fatally, during medical evacuations.
