Jordan Perez, from Charlotte, North Carolina, a Soldier with 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) competing in the U.S. Army Forces Command Best Squad Competition fires the M240B machine gun during a qualification table, Aug. 13, 2023, on Fort Campbell, Kentucky. When soldiers qualify on their service weapons, they demonstrate that they can make fast decisions while engaging targets. The competition tests the Soldier’s proficiency in their warrior tasks and battle drills and identifies the most cohesive, highly trained, disciplined, and fit team that is ready to fight and win – while demonstrating a commitment to the Army Values (leadership, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity, personnel courage) and Warrior Ethos.
