Jason Villarreal (left), insfrastructure assessment specialist, Doug Weber (center), infrastructure assessment action officer, and Charles Ifft, infrastructure assessment mission manager, all from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, observe progress being made on the Mantoloking Breach closure, Mantoloking, N.J., during an infrastructure assessment after Hurricane Sandy. The Corps of Engineers Infrastructure Assessment Planning and Response Teams (IA-PRTs) augment local efforts to inspect buildings that are primarily residential, and to manage inspections of public works facilities following a major disaster, as assigned by FEMA. The IA mission is intended to be highly flexible and scalable in order to meet the specific and changing needs of impacted communities during response and recovery efforts.
