  • Having won last year’s competition, the Minnesota National Guard was honored to host the 2010 National Honor Guard Competition at the 133rd Airlift Wing, Sept. 20-23. The four-day event pitted eight-member teams from eight states, all of which had taken their top regional honors. They were judged on their military bearing, appearance, and ability to execute a variety of tasks ranging from removing a casket from an aircraft to presenting a flag to a fallen soldier's next of kin. Judging the event were Old Guard soldiers who serve at Arlington National Cemetery.

Duysen, an infantryman in D Company, 1st Battalion, 168th Infantry Regiment, a part of the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 34th Infantry Division, was one of many soldiers and service members invited by the Vikings to be honored at the Viking’s military appreciation game.
