The guest of honor, the 35th Commandant of the Marine Corps, Gen. James F. Amos receives the first piece of cake from Brigadier Gen. James W. Lukeman, the 2nd Marine Division Commanding General, during the 2nd Marine Division 237th Birthday Ball at the Goettge Field House, Nov. 8. Traditionally the first piece of cake will go to the guest of honor and the second piece is passed from the oldest Marine to the youngest Marine to symbolize the passing of knowledge from one generation of Marines to the next.
