Sgt. Julian Ranas, 1st Marine Corps District’s enhanced marketing vehicle driver, has offered his time, home and truck to his fellow Marines following the devastation Hurricane Sandy left on Oct. 29. “It’s just natural for Marines to help Marines,” the Saipan native said. Ranas is a 25-year-old Marine who spent the first six years of his military career stationed on Marine Corps Base Hawaii, Kaneohe Bay, prior to his reassignment to recruiting duty with 1MCD in Garden City N.Y. When asked why he joined the Marine Corps, the seven-year veteran said, “I wanted to challenge myself and do something better that what was waiting for me back at home.”
