Family members prepare to welcome home Marines and Sailors during the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit's advance party homecoming aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Lejuene, Oct. 20. Marines and sailors saw their families and friends for the first time in months and in a few cases met their children for the first time The advance party, a small group of Marines and sailors who will make preparations for the rest of the MEU, saw their families and friends for the first time since deploying and in a few cases met their children for the first time. The rest of the 24th MEU remains deployed with the Iwo Jima Amphibious Ready Group in the U.S. Central Command theater of responsibility and is scheduled to return home before the end of the year.
