U.S. Army Lt. Col. John A. Kizler, from Louisville, Ky., presents Qatar Maj. Gen. Thamer Al Mehshadi with a gold trophy in appreciation for allowing U.S. service members to remain involved in their annual military sports competitions in Qatar, Jan 30. Kizler is the deputy commander of Area Support Group Qatar, the U.S. Army component headquarters facilitating the participation of U.S. involvement in the sociable events. Since 2004, the activities are intended to strengthen relationships between the two nations – participation remains more important than winning.
