Sailors and Marines man the rails aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8) as the ship passes under the Bay Bridge en route to San Francisco for San Francisco Fleet Week 2012. San Francisco Fleet Week is scheduled from Oct. 3-8 and brings more than 2,500 sailors, Marines and Coast Guard personnel from four ships to the city in order to highlight the personnel, technology and capabilities of the sea services.
