The 5th Battalion, 11th Marine Regiment color guard stands at parade rest behind the battalion’s newly revealed insignia during a rededication ceremony here, Oct. 3, 2012. The ceremony was held to honor the history of 5th Bn., 11th Marines, campaigns, battles and expeditions, which span from the battalion’s activation at New River, N.C., in May 1942, to Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. The battalion’s Quebec Battery was also reactivated during the ceremony, further reinforcing the Marine Corps’ expeditionary fighting force.
